Here at DCG Nexus, we understand that every decklist has nuance and uniqueness.
Whether you're adjusting a few ratios to suit your local meta, trying out a new tech card, or even copying a list you found online, every deck tells a story. Those choices shape how the deck wants to play, what matchups you're expecting, and ultimately what you're trying to achieve.
With that in mind, I'm excited to introduce Deck Fingerprints.
Deck Fingerprints are designed to analyse your deck within the context of the current metagame, helping break down what makes your list unique and giving you something back for contributing your data to the community.
What is a Deck Fingerprint?

Within every archetype, there are similarities that define the deck. Certain cards appear in almost every list, while others are far more flexible. Small changes in ratios, Level distributions, option cards or evolution lines can have a surprisingly large impact on how a deck functions.
A Deck Fingerprint takes all of those elements into account.
Rather than simply looking at individual cards, it analyses the overall structure of your deck and compares it against other lists within the same archetype. This allows us to identify the characteristics that make your deck what it is, while also highlighting the areas where it differs from the rest of the field.
The goal isn't to say whether a deck is right or wrong. It's to better understand how a deck is built, and to give us a much stronger way of comparing lists than simply counting shared cards.
Why?
As DCG Nexus has grown, so has the amount of tournament data available to analyse.
That data becomes much more valuable when we can look beyond individual cards and start understanding the structure of decks themselves.
Deck Fingerprints give us a foundation to do exactly that.
They allow us to compare lists more meaningfully, identify trends within archetypes, and provide deeper analysis than has previously been possible. Rather than treating every change equally, we can begin to understand which differences genuinely change how a deck functions, and which are simply personal preference.
Most importantly, this gives us the building blocks for far more advanced analysis in the future.
How do I get a Deck Fingerprint?
Most decklists on DCG Nexus will already have a public Deck Fingerprint attached that anyone can view.
If you submit your own decklist, you'll unlock a personalised report for 72 hours. This report digs much deeper into your list, giving you additional insights and analysis that aren't available publicly.
It's our way of giving something back to everyone who contributes data to the platform.

What's Next?
Deck Fingerprints are just the beginning.
It's easy to jump straight to the exciting features, but those features only work if the foundations are solid. Deck Fingerprints are that foundation.
A lot of the ideas I have planned for DCG Nexus rely on being able to understand decks at a much deeper level than simply looking at a list of 50 cards. Building that foundation now means future features can be smarter, more meaningful, and backed by real tournament data.
This is only the first iteration, and like everything on DCG Nexus, it'll continue to improve as more data is collected and the platform evolves.
As always, I'd love to hear your feedback.
